The DING side is crafted with 9 tonal fields arranged in a "tonal circle" around the central dome (DING), producing a unique and resonant sound. The GU side features a 10 cm resonator hole, which can be played like an Udu drum or used to manipulate the sound from the DING side. Additionally, the GU has a specialized damper in the central dome, enhancing the instrument's deep bass effect, giving it a truly unique and beautiful low resonance.
The handpan is played by striking the tonal areas with fingertips, thumbs, or the base of the palms, producing soothing and harmonious melodies.
